Timers

Timers

A mechanical defrost timer controls the defrost cycle of the freezer. In older models, the timer runs continuously and roughly every six hours, cuts power to the cooling system and sends power to the defrost heater. In newer models the timer advances only while the compressor or defrost cycle is running – an improvement for efficiency.

Capacitor

Capacitor

A motor capacitor such as a start capacitor or run capacitor (including a dual run capacitor) is an electrical capacitor that alters the current to one or more winding of a single phase AC induction motor to create a rotating magnetic field. There are two common types of motor capacitors, run capacitors and start capacitors.
